Getting ready for the party !

Just putting finishing touches on the house. There is very little to be done now... so I guess it's party time! Bruce had a photographer over last Wednesday, he is going to submit the house for a SAM award. Very exciting times... here are the final pictures.

The grass is greener!

The beautiful fall colours are all around us. Our home now has landscaping, and thanks to the wonderful crew at Denira we have a spectacular yard. Front, back and sides. It's amazing how fast these guys worked. Here are some pictures...

Moving

We moved the contents of our pod into our garage on the weekend, and the big pieces of furniture into the house. Our reno feels so close to being complete, and yet pretty far too. My hubby in an effort to save ALOT of money has opted to install the appliances himself. This worked until we came up against the Thermador fridge and freezer panels, which as we were warned were complicated and time consuming. Ok so we called a professional and said goodbye to $157.00. This left us an oven, speed oven, cooktop and coffeemaker. The instructions for the trim kit by Miele I swear are in Greek! Anyone out there speak Greek? No? Hmmm I thought not!

Dishes upstairs, food downstairs, dishwasher downstairs, clothes and toilet downstairs, office upstairs. Sanity I can't seem to find anywhere in this house, perhaps it's outside. No that would be the rebar I keep tripping over LOL!

Seriously everything IS coming together, but it's always the last bit that seems to take forever. The house is looking fantastic. The Remodelers have put on the floors final coat and the electricians and plumbers are doing their thing getting ready for inspections etc.

Room transformations

Lots of changes now that the cupboards are starting to go in. They are looking fantastic and just a bit of trim and glass to go on. They will be installing the counter tops on Wednesday! I think I will go into shock when I move back upstairs... so many drawers and cupboards - lol!

Door handles - Argh!

Well who would have thought picking out door handles would be such a problem. Although the Remodelers have 100's to choose from my husband and I have been stressing over which one to pick. I made the big trip down to Lee Valley and purchased about $40.00 worth of my favorites, but in the end it was one we had found in the Remodeler's show room. Later it was a call to the designer to choose the right size and find an appliance handle that would go with our handle selection. Funny it was probably the first one we saw there. Hahaha that should teach us a lesson! I spent hours picking the door handles, carried around door samples and now I have to do returns to various stores.....no I won't say here how many stores I have to make returns to. So embarrasing! Ah but they will look marvelous once they get installed. Laundry room is almost done...

Cupboards - lots of cupboards

It's been awhile since I last posted. Time has a way of slipping by especially when you get busy! Since my last post the Remodelers have spray painted the casement and baseboards and we have had a delivery of the cupboards... I think every room upstairs has trim, doors or cabinets in it. The fininshing carpenters have so many tools, saws and gizmos that it's difficult to move around up there.  Heres some pictures!

Rub a dub dub... I've got a brand new tub!

Well bring on the bubbles! My new tub was delivered today, and although it's in the middle of my bathroom, it's going to find a lovely home in the corner.

Oh so hot and steamy

Very excited to see the last of the tile go up in our steam shower... just need some glass now. Outside we have our bubble up again to keep the area warm. Struggling to find some stone for the top of the stair railing, but I'm sure we will find something!

BANG BANG BANG

Headphones are not quite strong enough to drown out the sound of the compressor, nailer and constant dropping and pushing around of the hardwood flooring. Having said that I can't complain these fellas are doing a great job and it's going to be done in no time!
